Temporary Weather Restrictions due to U.S. Winter Storm Fern

We would like to inform you of upcoming operational impacts due to Winter Storm Fern, which is expected to affect portions of the U.S. beginning later this week. Impacts may begin as early as Friday, January 23, and continue through Monday, January 26.

Winter Storm Fern is expected to bring extreme weather conditions across the Southern Plains into the Northeast beginning Friday, January 23 through Monday, January 26. As a result, we will be implementing specific inbound and outbound cargo and mail restrictions at the following United Cargo freight facilities. Any cargo that is booked to ship during the restricted time frames will not be accepted.

·    Newark, NJ (EWR)
All inbound and outbound cargo on narrowbody and widebody aircraft will be restricted on Sunday, January 25 through Monday, January 26.

·    Washington, D.C. (IAD)
All inbound and outbound cargo on narrowbody and widebody aircraft will be restricted on Sunday, January 25. Widebody operations are expected to resume after 10:00 EST on Monday, January 26. Narrowbody flights will continue to be restricted through Monday, January 26.

·    Atlanta, GA (ATL), Baltimore, MD (BWI) Charlotte, NC (CLT), Philadelphia, PA (PHL), Pittsburgh, PA (PIT), Norfolk, VA (ORF), Richmond, VA (RIC), Raleigh-Durham, NC (RDU)  
All inbound and outbound cargo will be restricted from Sunday, January 25 through Monday, January 26 at 12:00 EST.

·    Boston, MA (BOS) and Hartford, CT (BDL)
All inbound and outbound cargo will be restricted from Sunday, January 25 at 12:00 through Monday, January 26 at 15:00 EST.

All inbound and outbound cargo, as well as counter shipments (QuickPak and LifeGuard shipments), will be restricted to the below locations from Sunday, January 25 through Monday, January 26 at 12:00 EST:

Albany, NY (ALB), Allentown, PA (ABE), Asheville, NC (AVL), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA (AVP), Buffalo, NY (BUF), Columbia, SC (CAE), Charlottesville, VA (CHO), Washington, DC (DCA), Greensboro/High Point, NC (GSO), Greenville/Spartanburg, SC (GSP), Memphis, TN (MEM), New York, NY (LGA), Harrisburg, PA (MDT), Providence, RI (PVD), Roanoke, VA (ROA), Rochester, NY (ROC), State College, PA (SCE), Louisville, KY (SDF), Syracuse, NY (SYR), Knoxville, TN, US (TYS)

Shipments currently in transit to restricted stations will be held at the originating station or rerouted according to your request. Stations affected may move cargo on hand to the non-affected cities if the operation and conditions allow.
