What projects have you worked on during your internship?

I’ve been working on modernizing the Delayed Volume Report (DVR) for the mail operations employees. The previous system used a deprecated Microsoft Form, and I’m creating a new web-based system that uses Microsoft's Power Platform for accessibility and usability.

What has been the most rewarding part of your internship?

Learning details about mail operations has been eye-opening and rewarding. All the work that goes into optimizing and fine-tuning the operation has taught me a lot about the innner workings of the postal network.

What’s one key thing you’ve learned that you’ll use in the future?

I’ve seen the importance of networking and teamwork. With such a complex operation, being able to present specialized or technical work in a clear way is extremely important.

Grace Chang

What projects have you worked on during your internship?

I'm working on an account review dashboard that streamlines the process of tracing the accounts of new Cargo customers back to their company headquarters. The project aims to support the United Cargo sales team when they connect with customers to discuss their yearly performances as part of Global Incentive Agreements.

What has been the most rewarding part of your internship?

The internship has taught me the importance of taking initiative if you want to learn something. There's so much going on – whether it's within your team, your department, or even across the entire business – and putting yourself out there ensures that you can get the most out of your experience!

Have you used your flight benefits to go anywhere? If so, where?

I went to Tokyo for a remote work week on standby! The flight benefits are such a unique privilege to have, and hearing about everyone's travels is really fun and inspirational.

Grace Lemke

What projects have you worked on during your internship?

I have worked on a variety of projects focused on communication, marketing, and internal initiatives. For example, I created a LinkedIn paid advertising campaign strategy for the specialty products campaign and helped build the content for the posts. I’ve also worked on marketing flyers and internal stories to help build awareness about United Cargo.

What has been the most rewarding part of your internship?

The most rewarding part of my internship experience has been collaborating with stakeholders across the department and learning about how each team connects behind the scenes. It's been especially meaningful to contribute to work that has a real impact on operational communication in Cargo.

What’s one key thing you’ve learned that you’ll use in the future?

I’ve learned the importance of adaptability and clear communication in a fastpaced environment. Being able to ask questions, respond to feedback, and quickly adjust are insights I plan to carry with me into any future role.

Hannah Nguyen

What projects have you worked on during your internship?

I’m working on improving the current handling vendor invoicing and month-end accruals processes with workflow automations and standardization to enhance accuracy and reduce manual input time. Additionally, I’m working on building out safety and compliance dashboards to improve the audit process.

What has been the most rewarding part of your internship?

I've enjoyed making connections with everyone at United, especially within the Cargo organization. I've been able to take away so many different lessons from people I've talked to and I’m left with invaluable pieces of advice that I’ll carry with me forever.

Have you used your flight benefits to go anywhere? If so, where?

Internationally, I’ve visited Amsterdam! Domestically, I've been able to California and Washington D.C. I’m also looking to explore more cities in the future using standby.

Jester Abella

What projects have you worked on during your internship?

I've been working on standardizing contract agreements to create a one-stop shop for contracts and aggregating them into a single point. I’m also helping with financial forecasting for JV and Interline partnerships, and organized internal documents with airline partners.

How do you feel you’ve made an impact during your internship?

I‘m making a big impact by working cross-functionally in my role, which allows me to help out in a wide variety of areas across the business. By working on projects that span multiple teams and functions, I'm able to drive meaningful improvements and efficiencies.

What has been the most rewarding part of your internship?

The most rewarding part has been being part of an amazing team that always helps me and allows me to grow in a collaborative environment. I get to work on projects that will help make other business functions more seamless and efficient.

John Michaels

What projects have you worked on during your internship?

My project is focused on enhancing our demurrage policy and processes. I’m accomplishing this by creating an automated report for added customer visibility, along with brainstorming potential changes to our billing approach.

What has been the most rewarding part of your internship?

The most rewarding part of this internship has been connecting with so many new people. Through coffee chats, project meetings, and campus recruitment events, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know a lot of great people that have made my experience at United fantastic!

What’s one key thing you’ve learned that you’ll use in the future?

I’ve learned is that communication is important to both team and individual success. Being able to convey my ideas clearly to others has been critical for making progress.
