San Francisco is more than a gateway—it’s a vital link in the domestic network. When the pace of business never slows, having a hub that offers swift processing, unwavering reliability, and specialized handling makes all the difference. Whether you’re shipping high-tech electronics across the country, preserving the freshness of California produce, or delivering time-sensitive retail freight, United Cargo at SFO is purpose-built to perform. In 2024, our facility processed 157 million kilograms of cargo—90 million kilograms in transfers, 24 million kilograms of exports, and 43 million kilograms of imports—solidifying its strategic role in both domestic and international supply chains.

Strategically located steps from International Terminal G—United’s base for overseas departures—SFO serves as seamless transfer point, routing international shipments onto domestic flights with efficiency and speed. Drawing volume from Silicon Valley’s innovation corridor, Central Valley’s cherry and berry orchards, and biotech hubs across the Pacific Northwest, United Cargo operates nonstop service to 60 domestics, including all major hubs.
While some carriers scale back, United is expanding – reinforcing schedules and offering alternative routings with backup capacity when demand spikes. With more than half of all flights at SFO operated by United, our network outpaces West Coast gateways.
Build for Speed. Backed by Reach.
At United Cargo’s SFO hub, efficiency meets expertise. Our 140,000-square-foot Building 585 is engineered for rapid movement—20 dock doors, expansive warehouse space, and a temperature-controlled chamber ensure everything from California cherries to critical biotech moves swiftly and safely.
And we’re growing. Enhancements arriving in Q3 2025—like new skid racks and dedicated TempControl ULD storage—will expand our ability to handle even more specialized freight.
But the story doesn’t stop at the facility. Backed by six nightly trucks from LA and on-demand lanes from Seattle and Portland, United Cargo’s 24/7 network keeps freight flowing—even when belly space is tight. From high-value tech to Hawaiian seafood, our premium products—TempControl, QuickPak, UASecure, and LifeGuard—are built to deliver with care and confidence.
Looking Ahead: Future-Ready Capacity
As we build on today’s momentum, even more capacity is on the horizon. A new, state-of-the-art cargo complex—launch date to be announced—will introduce expanded handling zones, automation, and higher throughput to support the evolving needs of California’s supply chains.
As a hometown carrier, United remains committed to innovation, operational excellence, and keeping freight moving—efficiently, reliably, and always forward.
