CHICAGO, May 3, 2007 - United Airlines today announced it is strengthening its international network by launching two new nonstop flights from the United States to Asia and South America. Daily, nonstop passenger and cargo service between Los Angeles and Hong Kong and between Washington, D.C., and Rio de Janeiro will begin October 2007. Flights are now open for sale.
"We are pleased to enhance our Asia service for our Los Angeles customers, as well as continue to strengthen Washington Dulles as our East Coast international gateway," said Scott Dolan, United's senior vice president-Airport Operations and Cargo. "Adding these routes enables United to enhance our route network making it easier for our customers to ship to Asia and Latin while creating new revenue opportunities for United."
Los Angeles-Hong Kong
The Los Angeles-Hong Kong route expands United's breadth of service to Asia, providing customers with a new gateway to Hong Kong and direct service to Ho Chi Minh City. The new flight will also provide Los Angeles customers with an additional connecting opportunity to Singapore. United's direct service to Ho Chi Minh City is expected to benefit customers in the Los Angeles area. San Francisco customers will continue to enjoy connecting opportunities to both Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City via Hong Kong. With the new Hong Kong service, United's Los Angeles hub now serves 9 international destinations nonstop.
